Prevention Tips
Cockroaches congregate in warm hiding places where food and
water is readily available, such as kitchens and bathrooms. To
reduce infestations, practice good sanitation to eliminate food
sources, keep food in sealed containers, repair water leaks, use
steel wool to close openings around pipes that penetrate walls,
seal under outside doorways and around window frames and seal
cracks and crevices with a waterproof silicone caulking.
Outdoors, trimming shrubs and moving woodpiles away from the
house can reduce shelter for cockroaches outdoors. Treatment with
outdoor insecticides labeled for this use can help reduce cockroach
infestations before they seek shelter inside the home. Baits are
also effective in controlling cockroaches.
