Fruit Flies

Fruit flies are very small flies that congregate around overly ripe fruit and decaying or spoiling vegetation. Small larvae burrow into and damage the fruit. The adult fruit flies are frequently seen hovering in kitchens and around garbage cans when fruit and other vegetables are present. Keeping fresh fruit in sealed or screened containers and using sealed garbage containers can help minimize fruit fly problems
